Durleigh Parish Council need a new Councillor. Could this be you? Are you interested in serving your local community?
Further to the recent notice about becoming a Parish Councillor, the time has passed for an election to be held so we now wish to Co-opt someone onto the council.
The new parish councillor will fill a vacancy which has recently occurred in the Wyndham Ward (although as the Council is grouped, councillors represent the whole community of Durleigh).
The Council meets 6 times a year, usually on the second Thursday of the month (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov). This would normally be at Westfield Church, but due to Covid we are currently meeting via Zoom, from the comfort of our homes.
Parish Councillors volunteer their time to work on behalf of their local community. If you have lived in the Parish, or within 3 miles of it, for at least a year and are over 18, you are probably eligible (please check with the clerk for further eligibility criteria). Training will be available, funded by the Parish Council.
If you would like to express your interest, please contact the Parish Clerk at the address below.
Tammy Weeks, 22 Friarn, Over Stowey, Somerset. TA5 1HW
A decision to co-opt an applicant will be made at the next meeting of the Parish Council, following receipt of expressions of interest.
If you require any further information please contact the Clerk or visit the Parish Council’s website www.durleighpc.org.uk
You are also welcome to contact any of the other Councillors (contact details on the website) to discuss what is involved in being a councillor.
We look forward to welcoming a new Councillor in the near future.
